The turn of the century and the rise of intellectual thought brought about delightful freedom and keen inspiration to Haydn and Mozart. Its absence, however, saw the creative voice of Bartók extinguished, the composer stricken with self-doubt and disenchantment in the years following the Great War. One might find themselves enthralled by the poetry of these works or galvanized by their originality. Sortie : 24 avril 2020 En 2003, le quatuor Modigliani naissait au conservatoire de Paris. Au même moment, les musiciens de l’ensemble Sabine Meyer étaient invités par Claudio Abbado à occuper les pupitres de solistes de l’orchestre du Festival de Lucerne. Après plusieurs tournées communes, ces deux générations de chambristes réunis par la musique et l’amitié ont décidé de sceller leur complicité au disque, à travers un chef d’œuvre à mi-chemin entre la symphonie et la musique de chambre : l’octuor de Schubert. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Release : 24 April 2020 In 2003, the Modigliani quartet was created in the Paris conservatoire. At the same time, the musicians of Sabine Meyer’s ensemble were invited by Claudio Abbado to lead the orchestra of the Lucerne festival. After several tours together and fuelled by their shared love of music, these two generations of chamber musicians have decided to dedicate a recording to the Schubert octet, a masterpiece situated between the symphony and chamber music. PORTRAITS le nouveau disque du Quatuor Modigliani / the new album of Modigliani Quartet Sortie / Release date : 11.01.2019 Modigliani, un des plus grands portraitistes, est l’inspirateur de ce voyage constitué de pièces aux caractères uniques. Conçu comme une galerie de portraits, ce nouvel opus rassemble chefs-d’oeuvre et découvertes. Le regard ou ici l’oreille, s’attardent sur les courbes, les lignes, le dessin mélodique singulier de chacune de ces partitions. En filigrane, se dessine un autre portrait, celui du quatuor. Modigliani, one of the greatest portrait painters, is the inspiration for this journey through a variety of pieces with a unique character. Conceived as a portrait gallery, this new programme combines masterpieces and discoveries. The eye, or rather the ear in this case, lingers on the contour, the lines, the singular melodic design of each of these pieces. And underneath them we can make out another portrait, of the quartet itself.
