 About 

Alvie Givhan is a native of Somerville, TN, and has established himself as an accomplished pianist across various genres, including pop, jazz, gospel and classical music. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous artists and has made significant contributions to the musical landscape in the region.

Givhan has performed with the Jackson, Tupelo, and Memphis Symphony Orchestras, showcasing his talent at prestigious events such as the IAJE Conference in New Orleans. He is the featured pianist with the Jazz Orchestra of the Delta, contributing to the album Big Band Reflections of Cole Porter (Summit Records) and appearing on the compilation Memphis Jazz Box (Ice House Records).

 

His dynamic performances on Beale Street have included memorable appearances at the legendary King's Palace and B.B. King's. With a rich background in contemporary gospel music, Givhan has served as a Music Director in Memphis for many years, guiding and inspiring the local music community.

 

Alvie Givhan earned his Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Memphis, further solidifying his expertise in the field. His contributions and artistry continue to resonate in the vibrant music scene.
