About the Quartet
The AYA Trio (pronounced as ay-why-ay) was formed in 2013 at the Curtis Institute of Music, where its members studied extensively with Peter Wiley and worked regularly with Jonathan Biss, Robert McDonald, Arnold Steinhardt, and Meng-Chieh Liu.
The trio has performed extensively across the U.S. in both recital and competition. In 2018, it won the WDAV Young Chamber Musicians Competition in North Carolina and was invited for the following season to return to the competition for a residency consisting of recordings and concerts. In 2019, the trio gave debut recitals in the Concerts International Series of Memphis and the Schneider Concert series at the Mannes New School in New York City. In 2020, they were awarded joint first prize in the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition and were nominated finalists of the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. In 2021, the trio made their Beethoven Triple Concerto debut with the Waterbury Symphony.
Highlights for the group’s recent engagements include recitals in the Brevard Music Center, Milford Theatre, and New York City’s Merkin Concert Hall. In June of 2022, the trio will be making their debuts in the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts series in Chicago and Washington Performing Arts series in D.C.
